Alive-est

"Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. If we follow the truth, it will bring us out safe at last."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Day 27 Assignment: Alive-est by Sam Davidson

When did you feel most alive recently? Where were you? What did you smell? What sights and sounds did you experience? Capture that moment on paper and recall that feeling. Then, when it's time to create something, read your own words to reclaim a sense of being to motivate you to complete a task at hand.

When did I feel most alive recently...

Actually, it happens frequently... during Praise & Worship at church... outside in nature...

Some of my favorite times are during storms when the air is charged with electricity and there is rain, lightening and thunder. I love the way the thunder rolls here in Arkansas. It goes full circle. In California there were claps of thunder, but it didn't roll. I think that must be a Southern thing... sometimes it seems as if it will just go on forever...

I also enjoy evening walks with a gentle breeze blowing, lightening bugs flickering, frogs, crickets and other insects singing in a chorus and the sweet smell of honeysuckle in the air...

When I'm outside surrounded by the beauty of God's creation, I can see and feel His majesty. The care given to the little details, the incredible artistry, the way every sense is fully engaged.

During Praise and Worship I can feel my praises rising to heaven and I can feel the Holy Spirit around and within me. Sometimes I'm overcome with emotion and tears flow freely. Other times I'm almost overwhelmed by the most intense feeling of love. Other times there is just a soft, sweet peace that envelopes me erasing all of my cares and worries.

When do I feel the most alive? When my focus is where it belongs... on God rather than the temporary things of this earth.

  1. Your blog is a feast for the eyes. The colors of the backgrounds, the photos and your words create a spa for the soul. I laughed today, when I read About Me -- the words "student of The Word and majoring in Faith". I am there with you! Rw

  2. Thanks, RW! I took this picture when the trees in my yard started to bud this Spring. Always happy to meet new friends majoring in Faith!
