No Options!

the liberator by dbking

Few weeks ago pastor Susan Allen taught a lesson on "Beating the Odds". My apologies in advance for my almost plaigiaristic post.

In the information age it is so easy to stumble over statistics, facts and figures. The odds are that a certain percentage of people will develop cancer, get the flu this season, die in a car accident, get divorced, etc. We live with an almost constant stream of negative programming from the entertainment industry, from.the medical community, law enforcement officials, the news media, even well-meaning friends and family are eager to tell us what the odds are that we cannot succeed, and they usually let us know that the odds are stacked against us.

How do we tip the scales in our favor?

"What then shall we say to this?
If God is for us, who can be against us?
...in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."
~Romans 8:31, 37

How do we overcome the odds?

By declaring our position in God. As in the story of Caleb and Joshua standing firm on God's report against the ten other spies. They refused to fall under the spell of sight and circumstances and instead believed in God's report: you are more than able to take this land.

Whose report will you believe?

When you are facing difficulty, stand firm!

"There is power in standing and facing your problems
and telling them they have no right!"
~Susan Allen

Remember that you have been redeemed, purchased by the blood of the lamb. anything that comes against you is in defiance of that blood! It defies the work of Jesus! It defies the Christ, the son of the living God!

This is not your battle. The battle is the Lord's and it has already been won.

When you face a situation that seems too difficult to overcome, do not give yourself a chicken hole! Don't every catch yourself saying "If this happens one more time..." Or "I just can't take anymore." To do so is to make an announcement to the enemy that he has almost won, that you are ready to throw in the towel.

If you give yourself an option, you will take it.

There is nothing bigger than you and God! There is no option other than standing firm on the promises of God.

"And having done all to stand, stand therefore" (Ephesians 6:13).

Stand in the victory won for you by Jesus.
I love you.

Why?

Tears are tasteless by magyarsh

In the blink of an eye, everything can change. Often, we look at the things that happen in our lives and the lives of others, and inevitably someone asks the question...

"Why?"

For God So Loved...

adapted from "heart" by seyed mostafa zamani

God loved the world so much that he gave...  And he continues to give today.

I was thinking about God's gifts today, and about how he gives. "Not as the world giveth..."  When God speaks his word, it is "forever settled in heaven".

Reflections on Life Lived

Of course, at the end of our journey, we want that to read “a life lived well”, or “a life well-lived”.
I have spent time over the last several days contemplating and reflecting on my life thus far. I look at my birthday as a sort of personal “New Year”. The changing of the calendar year doesn’t mean that much to me, really. I’m not much into making New Year’s Resolutions. But, my birthday I take a little more seriously – not in a celebrating, let’s party kind of way. In fact, I prefer that not much is made of my birthday. Yes, I appreciate the “happy birthday” wishes, but don’t rely on a party or presents. In many ways, it’s just another day.

When You Pray

"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."
~Matthew 6:6

I've been struggling with the events of a week ago. Especially, I've been struggling with opinions, beliefs, cause and effect, the cultural changes that have taken place in America...

One Nation Under God

American Flag at Half Mast by brianDhawkins

As the news broke on Friday about the school shooting in Connecticut,my first instinct was to pray. I worked for the rest of the day with live news coverage playing in the background on my computer.

Let me apologize at the beginning for what will likely be a rambling, disjointed, opinionated and passionate post.

We have had school shootings in the United States before, but not like this. Not in an elementary school with such young, innocent children.

Carl Walks Closer to the "Falling Down" House by Old Shoe Woman

It seems as though the last several years have been challenging ones for me. But, through every challenge, I have never had to go without.'
